How Can Gratitude Lead You From Lack to Abundance?

How Can Gratitude Lead You From Lack to Abundance?

According to the World Health Organisation, It is estimated that 1 in 10 people (785 million) still lack basic services, including the 144 million who drink untreated surface water.

If you don’t come under these statistics, I don’t think you have any reason not to be grateful for.

Now let’s talk about what is Gratitude.

What is Gratitude?

To me, Gratitude is about being thankful to the Universe for everyone and everything in our lives – our family, life, nature, health, wealth, education, life lessons, people, things, jobs, etc.

Gratitude is a positive emotion that we feel for someone or something. It is a deep sense of appreciation.

Why Gratitude?

When you are grateful for what you have and going to have instead of what you don’t have, the universe gives you more to be grateful for.

If you’re truly grateful for what you have instead of being envious of what you don’t have, you’ll be a dominant force in business and, way more important, in life.

Gary Vee

What Happens When You Focus On Lack Instead of Gratitude?

What happens when we focus on Lack?

People always compare their lives with others and think they don’t have enough. They don’t rejoice in other people’s success, because No one has taught them how to be thankful for everything.

The universe always gives us what we believe we deserve. Many of us have been raised to look at what we don’t have and to feel only lack. We come from a belief in scarcity and then wonder why our lives are so empty. If we believe that “I don’t have, and I won’t be happy until I do…,” then we are putting our lives on hold. What the universe hears is: “I don’t have, and I am not happy,” and that’s what you get more of

Louise Hay – Gratitude A Way of Life

I didn’t even know why I was attracting more lack of things that I always wanted to have more of until I understand the following quote.

It is impossible to bring more into your life if you are feeling ungrateful about what you have. Why? Because the thoughts and feelings you emit as you feel ungrateful are all negative emotions.

Rhonda Byrne – The Secret

My Experiences of Attracting Lack

Let me share a few of my experiences, you can relate.

I Dropped My Phone

I dropped my phone, because my focus was always on lack.

I always wanted to save money, but it never happened, because my belief about money was, “I don’t have enough to save.” and that belief attracts more lack the moment I was thinking to save.

At the place I was staying before, I used to go for a walk every day. One day I was doing a warm-up exercise and my phone fell down and broke. And half of the salary was gone in getting it repaired.

I Had to Buy a New Phone

I had to buy a new phone, because my phone dropped in the water and it was gone.

How many of you love to listen to Radio?

I am one of them.

While coming back from work, On the way home, I put the radio on and listened to music.

One day, After I reached home. I put my phone in the bucket and put clothes on it and dip them in water. I didn’t remember that I left my phone in the bucket.

I watch the Gratitude video every day before I sleep and I was wondering, “Hey! Where is my phone? I need to watch the video.” After some time I remembered, “Oh my God! My phone is in the bucket.” I tried everything to make my phone work, but it didn’t. Finally, I had to buy the new one.

So you can see how I was getting more lack in my life.

How Did Gratitude Change My Life?

How Gratitude Changed my Life?

The day I started feeling grateful, I could see changes in every area of my life. It is not just saying gratitude words, it is about being grateful from the bottom of our hearts, that’s when it works.

I used to write a gratitude journal every day since I started my Self-Love journey, but it didn’t work, because those were just words, not deep appreciation for everyone and everything in my life.

When I was in the Network Marketing business. At least one good thing happened: getting to know about “The Magic” book by Rhonda Byrne.

I started reading her book and came to know the power of Gratitude.

Whoever has gratitude will be given more, and he or she will have an abundance. Whoever does not have gratitude, even what he or she has will be taken from him or her.

Rhonda Byrne – The Magic

Let me share a few of my experiences about how Gratitude changed my life I have never imagined it in my dreams

Flipkart Pay Later Helped Me to Get Household Items Every Month

Flipkart Pay Later helped me to buy household things when I was short of money.

A few years back, I took loans for the Network Marketing business and for my teeth treatment. I had monthly loan EMIs to pay, hence couldn’t afford household items.

I am so grateful to Flipkart for introducing the Flipkart Pay Later option. It is the option where you can buy any product this month and pay for them before the 10th of the next month with zero additional charges. I believe now this policy is changed to the 5th.

My PG Rent Was Paid

I went bankrupt after only 6 months in the Network Marketing Business. I couldn’t pay PG rent for 5 months.

Sometimes I would stay at the office and didn’t come home, because I was afraid, “What If my PG Owner catches me and asks me to leave PG? Where will I go?”

I said to my owner’s wife, “You can keep my laptop until I pay 5 months of rent.”

I didn’t even have a single penny in my pocket to go to the office and have dinner. I couldn’t ask anyone for help. I used to go to work on foot and stay hungry at night.

I would like to tell you we can feel grateful for what we are going to have as well. I did and it worked for me.

I started writing and saying gratitude affirmations to myself.

I am so grateful for all the money that I have been given throughout my life. I can eat and drink anything, go anywhere in the world, buy anything and I have cleared all my debts and my parent’s debts.

Gradually I got the courage to ask for help and people showed up in my life to help me out.

I believe We meet people for a reason.

We meet people for a reason.

At work, I got into a new project. My manager rejected me twice before he accepted me into his project. He was working Onsite and called us every day. I was new to the project. He asked me, “Sarbjeet, How’s everything at work? If you have any personal problems, you can share them as well.”

I got vibes and shared my problems. He asked me for my bank account details and transferred 10k simultaneously.

At that moment, I realized the power of Gratitude.

Who Served Me Dinner?

As I mentioned before I used to stay hungry at night because I couldn’t afford money for dinner. My whole salary used to go to EMIs and Flipkart Pay later.

There was my friend who worked as a cashier at the office. She paid for my dinner during her night shift. It is sad that she is no more with us today.

One of my colleagues gets dinner for me as well when my friend wasn’t available at work. And I am so grateful to her.

My ex-colleagues and the people I never met in person at work helped me to pay 5 months of PG rent. Most of them were from other projects, security guards, and transport people.

My Credit Card Bills Were Cleared

My Credit Card bills were cleared by my manager

In the network marketing business I joined, Every year they go to different countries where conferences are held. People senior said to me, “We are going to Malaysia this year and it is really important to visit and attend this conference if you really want to be successful in the business.

I didn’t have money. I have never confessed, but I am going to confess here that I lied that my dad’s health is not well, to get money from a few people. By the way that is not a lie, but half a lie, because my dad’s leg cancer treatment was going on.

Whoever I consider my friends, I called them. They asked me so many questions, “You already have a job, why do you need money?”, but in the end, I got a big NO.

People at the business told me to get a Credit Card. I didn’t have any other option and I took the Credit Card.

I had to buy a new Credit Card to go to Malaysia to attend the conference

I couldn’t pay my Credit Card bills on time. Bank people call me to pay Credit Card bills and I always reject their calls, because I wasn’t able to pay.

I didn’t know what to do, because apart from the Credit Card, I have already taken a loan to get into the business, a loan for my teeth treatment. More than half of my salary goes to business loans and I had left nothing to buy the necessary things.

I tried to search for a part-time job. I went everywhere possible – Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, Cafe Coffee Day, and Hotels, but got big No.

I have tried to find Part-Time jobs to pay my EMIs

I had only one person to go to for help and that is the manager I have mentioned before. I told him that I am looking for a part-time job because I can’t pay loans and Credit Card bills on time, but I am getting rejections.

He said, “Sarbjeet. You need to take care of your health as well. I will help you out. Give me your Credit Card information and tell me how many installments you have.” Every month I remind him to pay the installment.

One day I didn’t tell and got the call from the bank and I didn’t pick up. He came to the office.

I said to him, “Take my phone and sell it.” He said, “Madam, I can’t do it. Call the person who has paid your previous installments.”

I said, “You text him on WhatsApp. I can’t do that.”

But I don’t have any other person to ask for help. I texted him on WhatsApp and He paid my Credit Card installments. I am so grateful to my manager who helped me.

Whenever I think about how I was helped when I didn’t have any hope, I feel so grateful to the universe.

Someone Helped Me to Buy Specs

The Power of Gratitude - I was helped to got new Specs

When I went to Darbar Sahib aka Golden Temple a few years back on the way home. I sat down on my specs and the frame was gone. I managed to use it using faviquick.

I came back from home to work, but after a few days, my specs were broken completely and I had to buy the new one, but I didn’t have enough money.

I met someone at Vipassana in 2018. I called him and he sent me money to buy specs. After I got my second job, I returned his money back.

I Got My Second Job

When I got a new job after releasing my old patterns about a job.

I have had limiting patterns about getting a new job and I was getting rejection after rejection. I have already shared this in one of my previous blogs.

To know more, check How Does Self-Love Mirror Work Help You to Know Yourself?

I worked on releasing all those limiting patterns and used gratitude affirmation as well for the new job I was about to get.

I said to myself every day before I go to bed, “Thanks so much Universe for a new job in the best company where I work with wonderful people who love, trust, respect and support me.”

And I visualized how everyone at work and my family are congratulating me.

After a few days, I released my old patterns about the job completely, I started preparing for the interview.

And within one week, I got a new job. People I work with are kind and supportive and I am happy to work with them every day.

Today I have everything in my life. I say “Thank You” hundreds of times a day. I don’t have a lack at all. And I am so grateful to the universe for that. Thank you, Universe for teaching me the importance of Gratitude.

What Will You Get When You Feel Grateful?

Gratitude Keeps Us Grounded

When you are grateful you become grounded

Most of the time, we take things and people for granted and we don’t value them.

For e.g you waste water because you think, “I don’t have to pay for it. It is free.” or you don’t talk to your parents or don’t spend time with your kids, “I will call them later, let’s focus on earning money now.” or you waste food, or whatever it might be.

Gratitude reminds us that we own nothing, but the Universe is the source of everything, and we don’t know when what can happen.

Gratitude Makes You Realise You Have More Than Enough

Gratitude makes you realise you have enough.

I have got a question for youDo you have food to eat, water to drink, clothes to put on, a roof over your head and a floor under your feet, your family, a job or a business or you are looking for the one? What else do you need?

That’s what our basic needs are, right?

But we don’t realize it because we chase “More, More, More.” and look at others’ lives and think we don’t have enough. When you start feeling grateful, you realize you have so much to be grateful for and you will stop comparing yourself with others.

Gratitude Helps Us to Be in the Present Moment

Gratitude allows you be in the present moment

How many of you always live in the present moment aka NOW? Mostly we don’t. Either you live in the past or in the future.

It could be you are regretting something you have done in the past or you wanted to have what you had before, but you don’t have it now.

You are worried about what is going to happen tomorrow. Whether your future will be the way you want it to be or whatever the reason might be.

When you are grateful, you are no longer stressed about your future because you will have faith that you’re never alone and you won’t feel guilty about your past because you see the lessons.

Your Relationship With People Gets Stronger

Gratitude Strengthens your relationships with others

When you express gratitude to someone, it not only makes you feel good but the other person as well. They feel valued by you for actions they have taken to make a difference in your life.

Below are a few examples

  • If you didn’t appreciate your wife, tell her how delicious today’s food was and see how much difference it can make in her life.
  • If you are a lead or a manager. Appreciate your employees, they will feel valued and will do more work without you asking them to do it and they will trust you.

Gratitude Opens Doors to Abundance and Prosperity

Gratitude leads you to abundance and prosperity

The Universe loves GRATITUDE. The more you feel grateful for money though you don’t have much, you are going to receive more of it.

It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Gratitude Strengthens Your Connection With Your Higher Self

Gratitude strengthens your relationship with your Higher Self

When you are deeply grateful, your relationship with your Higher Self (You can call by different names such as God, or Intuition) will be stronger and you will start listening to your Higher Self and let it guide you in your life.

Different Ways to Practice Gratitude

Different way to practice Gratitude

There are different ways to practice Gratitude. The way that worked for me might or might not work for you. You can choose what feels right to you.

Write in a Gratitude Journal

Practice Gratitude 1 - Writing in a journal

You can write about people and things you are grateful for and why.

  • For e.g, I am grateful to the Universe for my parents who love me unconditionally and respect every decision of mine.
  • I am grateful to all people who contribute to me getting whatever I need on a daily basis.

Prayer can help you to be grateful

I feel deep gratitude whenever I pray because God showed up in my life when I didn’t have any hope. And I believe prayer is so powerful.

There is no right or wrong way to pray. To me, prayer is opening your heart in front of God and crying if you want to.

Saying Thank You to Someone for Their Actions

Saying Thank You to Someone for Their Actions

I never feel comfortable expressing gratitude to people by saying Thank You to them in words, but I Thank people mentally. Gradually I started expressing Gratitude to them in words as well and realise how good it feels to say Thank you to someone not only when we say it, but when they hear these words.

Putting a Daily or Weekly Gratitude Note in an Empty Jar

Putting a Daily or Weekly Gratitude Note in an Empty Jar

Recently I have started this exercise and whenever I am not feeling good, I just take a few notes I have written from the jar and read them to myself and feel blessed with people, things, and experiences that shape my life in a positive way.

Each day or week add a note with a good thing that happened to you and put it in the jar. And at the end of the year or whenever you are feeling down, open the jar and take a few notes and read them, you will feel good and grateful again that you have so much in your life.

I have been using this app for years and I found it really useful. You can set reminders to get a gratitude quote and a question to answer every day. It helps you slow down to take some time to find something to be grateful for.
